Tumalo Creek feeds Tumalo Falls, a 97-foot (30 m) waterfall. Located in the Cascade mountains, west of Bend in. Hiking upstream along Tumalo Creek and Bridge Creek will reward you with additional waterfalls, including Bridge Creek Falls. All of these falls are within the Deschutes National Forest.
The Tumalo Falls Day Use Area, is managed by the United States Forest Service. In addition to waterfall views, the day-use area has picnic sites and a toilet and offers access to trails for hiking and mountain biking.
Recreation Fee Site: $5/vehicle/day. Passes available onsite. Northwest Forest Passes accepted.
Directions: From Bend, OR: Travel 11.6 miles west on Skyliner’s Road (4601), then 2.6 miles west on Forest Road 4603.
Tumalo Falls Trail leads from the picnic area to a viewing platform above Tumalo Falls, about 0.25 miles (0.40 km) upstream. The trail continues beyond the falls. About 1.25 miles (2.01 km) further upstream, it reaches a second waterfall, Middle Tumalo Falls, a two-tiered cascade totaling 65 feet (20 m) in height.
Tumalo Falls just a few minutes from the trailhead and features spectacular views.
The area is great for picnicking. There are hiking and mountain biking trails.
The North Fork Trail is UPHILL ONLY for mountain bikes.
